Mean Well have been manufacturing power supplies, DC converters and inverters since 1982. When LED lighting began to emerge onto the scene in 2008 Mean Well took notice and began to develop their range of high quality LED drivers (also known as LED power supplies).

Since 2008, Mean Well have clearly become the market leader of LED drivers due to their competitive Worldwide pricing structure, high efficiency and above all reliability. Offering solutions to both constant voltage and constant current luminaires. With constant voltage versions that are generally used to power LED tape.

We stock a relatively small selection of Mean Well LED drivers but this selection meets the needs for the majority of LED tape applications. With wattage outputs ranging from 20 watts to 320 watts and available in 12V or 24V DC outputs.

LED drivers have an input and output voltage. The input voltage is usually mains voltage (230V AC) and the output voltage is usually 12V or 24V DC.

Constant voltage LED drivers are regulalry used with LED tape and have a constant, regulated voltage.

Specifications

Constant voltage LED drivers have a 12V or 24V DC output voltage. They are mainly used to power LED tape and smaller LED light fittings.

Constant current LED drivers have a 350mA or 700mA output. They are used to power more specialised LED fittings that require a precise current.

Many other output voltages and currents are avaialble but these are the most popular examples.

AC standards for alternating current and DC standards for direct current.

Mains voltage is 230V AC and has a tolerance of 10%, some products are 220V or 240V AC which means they can be classed as mains voltage.

DC voltages usually require an LED driver to convert the mains voltage AC into low voltage DC. Popular DC voltages are 12V or 24V DC.

Specifications

This is the resistance to dust and moisture. The first digit is for the resistance to dust and the second digit is for moisture.

Anything higher than IP44 can be used in bathroom zones 1 and 2.

An IP65 rating offers a higher resistance and is generally used outdoors. 

An IP68 is fully water resistant and can be submersed in water, up to 1M in depth.
