RGB LED Controllers for Colour Changing LED Strip

Choose colours, adjust brightness and create lighting scenes with our range of RGB LED controllers. From a handheld remote for a single LED strip to app control across several rooms, the right controller makes it easy to set the lighting for your space.

Our range includes RF remotes, wall panels, receivers and smart controllers from brands including Integral LED and Gledopto, with options for RGB, RGBW, RGB+CCT and digital LED strip.

Which Controller Matches Your LED Strip?

Start with the type of LED strip you want to control:

LED Strip Type Control Required
RGBControl of red, green and blue channels to mix colours and adjust brightness.
RGBWColour control plus a dedicated white channel.
RGB+CCTColour control plus adjustable white light, from warm white to cool white.
CCTAdjustment of white colour temperature and brightness.
Digital RGBA compatible digital pixel controller for chasing and moving effects along the strip.

A 5-in-1 controller supports different strip types by selecting the appropriate operating mode. Digital strip uses a different control method, so choose a controller specifically designed for it, such as the Integral digital RGB pixel controller.

Handheld Remotes, Wall Panels and Receivers

A remote or wall panel provides the buttons, colour wheel or touch controls you use to adjust the lighting. In many systems, it works with a separate receiver connected to the LED strip and power supply.

For example, the four-zone RGB/RGBW remote works with a compatible constant voltage RF receiver. The remote sends commands wirelessly, while the receiver controls the connected lighting. Choose remotes and receivers from a compatible system.

Smart LED Strip Controllers: Wi-Fi or Zigbee?

The Integral Skydance 5-in-1 Wi-Fi and RF controller offers smartphone control through the Tuya app. It can also pair with compatible RF remotes and wall controllers, giving you app control alongside a convenient local control point.

The Gledopto Zigbee 5-in-1 controller connects to a compatible Zigbee hub for app control. It provides an option for bringing suitable LED strip into an existing system, including Philips Hue when paired with a compatible Hue Bridge.

Controlling Multiple Lighting Zones

A zone is an area you want to control separately. In a kitchen, you might have one zone for worktop lighting, another for plinth lighting and a third for ceiling coving.

Each independently controlled area needs its own compatible receiver or smart strip controller. A multi-zone remote or suitable app can then control those areas individually or together, allowing different colours and brightness levels around the room.

Do I Also Need an LED Driver?

A typical low-voltage LED strip installation needs a separate LED driver to supply power. The receiver or smart controller handles the lighting adjustments. Match the supply voltage to the strip and controller: for example, 24V LED strip needs a suitable 24V DC supply.

Choose components with enough capacity for the connected lighting, including the receiver's total and per-channel limits. Send our lighting team your strip details, lengths, number of zones and preferred control method, and we can recommend a complete combination.

Frequently Asked Questions About RGB LED Controllers

Do I need a dimmable LED driver for dimmable colour changing strips?

No. For colour changing LED strips used with a controller, choose a non-dimmable constant voltage LED driver. The controller handles both dimming and colour changing, while the driver supplies power. Match the driver voltage to the strip and controller, and choose a suitable wattage for the connected lighting.

Do I need a receiver as well as a remote control?

A standalone RF remote usually needs a compatible receiver. The receiver connects to the LED strip and driver, and receives wireless commands from the remote. Some kits include both parts, while others are sold separately.

Can I control several LED strips with one remote?

Yes. A compatible multi-zone system lets you control several lighting areas together or separately. Areas you want to adjust independently need separate receivers or smart strip controllers, assigned to different zones.

Do I need Wi-Fi or a hub to control RGB LED strip?

No. A compatible RF remote and receiver can operate without Wi-Fi or a hub. For app control, Wi-Fi controllers connect to your wireless network, while Zigbee controllers use a compatible hub, such as a Philips Hue Bridge.

Do digital LED strips need a different controller?

Yes. Digital LED strips need a compatible digital pixel controller to control sections along the strip and create chasing or flowing effects. Choose a controller that supports the particular digital strip you are using.
