Love Your Home & Garden with Alan Titchmarsh
Downlights Direct was proud to be involved in the 2019, Season 2, Episode 3 of ITV1’s Love Your Home & Garden. This episode was about the Parry Family. After watching the episode as it aired, I think this project couldn’t have gone to a better, more deserving family.
Nina and Steve live with their children Oscar and Lexxy. Nina and Steve are both wheelchair users and were living in a house that was not one bit wheelchair friendly. Before the makeover, they could barely access their cupboards and the four of them were unable to fit in their living room at the same time. Enter Alan Titchmarsh and The Team who completely transformed their living space.
Alan wanted to produce a “light and bright space” and he certainly did just that.
The Astro Lighting Minima downlights we supplied, really contributed to the minimalist theme and made the best use of a limited area. The bezel-free, set-back design offers something different from a traditional clunky looking downlight.
The Minima downlights were fitted with the Philips DimTone GU10 LEDs which complimented the overall lighting design. Although the features were not discussed in the program, these particular LEDs reduce in colour temperature as they are dimmed, producing a warmer and more relaxing colour tone. They combine a impressive effect (at full brightness) with a warmer, more homely lighting effect when dimmed; which I’m sure the Parry Family will enjoy time and time again as they unwind in their stunning new living space.
The garden underwent some major work and was completely transformed from an inhabitable mess into a modern functional family area. The modern Astro Porto Plus black wall light complimented the external wall and produced an attractive, bright lighting effect – making the most of their renovated garden area. The robust construction and reassuring price tag will ensure it lasts for many happy years to come.
They also fitted some modern pendant lights with filament style LEDs and some LED tape in the new open plan kitchen. The lights combined to provide a consistent and clean ambient lighting effect, perfect for cooking under.
