Aurora’s insulation coverable downlights range are the most ideal downlights for October’s downlight of the month. As we enter October the season changes from the warm summer months to the more dismal and colder months of autumn, with this change in weather homeowners start to prepare for winter by installing new insulation into their attics. This can cause overheating problems for existing downlights if it’s laid straight on top of them.

Most commonly the installers of either the downlights or insulation would cut around the downlights so they wouldn't be covered by the insulation, but doing this allows the house to breathe and let out the heat you are trying to keep in. Which defeats the purpose of insulating the house if you have lots of holes letting out the heat. But Aurora Lighting came up with a solution to fix this occurring problem.

The Aurora Lighting insulation coverable downlights are fitted with a patented insulation cover cap that allows them to be covered with thermal insulation with no need for removing insulation. Downlight is also completely fire rated, acoustic rated and prevents air leakage. It also has a ventilation gap on each side of the housing which allows air flow for the lamp inside helping it to stay cooler and extended the life.

This universal range is supplied with both MR16 and GU10 lamp holders allowing any lamp type to be fitted. GU10 lamps operate on mains voltage meaning no additional LED drivers or transformers are required.

The latest version, which is now the EFD Pro are available here in fixed, adjustable or IP65 rated for bathrooms in three different finishes, Matt White, Polished Chrome and Satin Nickel. Lamps must be ordered separately.
