LED, or Light Emitting Diode lamps make use of a lighting technology that uses a two-lead semiconductor light source. LED lighting is generally held to be superior to other lighting sources due to its brightness, lesser environmental impact, and long life. Very often used in bathrooms, LED bathroom lighting has several advantages.

High voltage or HV LEDs operate on mains voltage 240V AC and have a current stabilization device fitted into the chip of the HV LED. This eliminates the requirement for a capacitor which is used in conventional LEDs to convert the voltage from mains 240V into the required DC output voltage. The capacitor is the weakest link in the chain and is often the first component to fail.

We can all agree that the best bulb ever is the LED. With a lifespan and efficiency way outstripping any other bulb, there really is no arguing with it. But where do you start when you’re replacing your bulbs when it comes to your home?

Headed by a group of scientists over in Germany, is a project that aims to see whether LED lights can be revolutionised, providing a whiter light in the process. As a direct result of the research undertaken, they have devised a new luminescent material for LED bulbs, with the Phosphor it includes improving energy efficiency and makes the artificial light provided almost as natural as the light provided by the sun.

Once again, this years Glastonbury Festival has been a resounding success - some minor flooding aside. With around 200,000 people descending upon a small farm in Pilton every year, at first glance at least, the festival seems entirely unsustainable.
