The unique design of the Hippo connector pierces through the water resistant coating on IP65 LED tape and provides a secure solder free connection.
Non IP rated LED tape doesn't have a water resistant coating but the IP65 versions do. We have Hippo connectors that can be used with IP20, non-water resistant tape and versions for IP65 water resistant tape. They are available in 2 pin (for single colour strips), 4 pin (for RGB strips) and 5 pin (for RGBW or RGBWW strips). They are also available in a strip to strip version or a strip to wire version. The strip to strip Hippo connector connects 2 LED tapes together and doesn't leave a gap. While the strip to wire Hippo connector allows you to connect an input or output cable to an LED tape that you've cut. You can use flat or rounded cables, and cables can be stranded. This design allows you to quickly add a connecting cable to the length you need.
Hippo LED tape connectors help to speed up installation times, avoid wastage of LED tape and provide more flexibility during installs. For bends and corners we also have some L shaped connections that fit into the Hippo connectors. Using two strip to strip connectors you can create flat corners.

To use a Hippo Connector cut your LED tape to the desired length (within the cut points) and peel back the self adhesive backing. Open the mouth of the Hippo connector. Insert the LED tape into the mouth then close it. The connector will snap securely into position and form a secure connection. Then you can either connect another LED tape to it with the strip to strip version, or connect a cable with the tape to wire version.

Mains voltage is 230V AC and has a tolerance of 10%, some products are 220V or 240V AC which means they can be classed as mains voltage.
DC voltages usually require an LED driver to convert the mains voltage AC into low voltage DC. Popular DC voltages are 12V or 24V DC.
