Features
Aurora EFD-Pro downlights are the all in one downlight that can be used in large variety of applications. They are not only insulation coverable but are resistant to airflow & are fire rated and acoustic rated.
The new design doesn't require an insulation cover cap but they can be covered with up to 300mm of thermal insulation when they are fitted with an LED (not halogen).
Cutting around thermal insulation isn't a recommended practice as it renders it inefficient and allows valuable heat to escape through the downlight hole. Aurora have pioneered thermal insulation coverable downlights and designed the EFD-Pro which is superseded the Sola (AU-UNIF) and the DLM range of high performance fire rated downlights.
Supplied with a quick connect terminal block with push-fit, loop-in and loop-out terminals. This type of connection system is becoming a standard feature in modern downlights as it makes wiring easier and faster. The EFD-Pro comes in 2 can sizes which include the EN-DLM981X which is used with the fixed IP20 and the bathroom IP65 bezels. The wider EN-DLM982X can is for use with the adjustable IP20 bezels. All of our prices include the fire cans and slim die cast twist lock bezel, just select which version you require from the product options.
The fixed IP20 version has a ring lock design which has the same look as previous Aurora downlights including the Sola and DLM ranges. EFD-Pro downlights offer a more cost effective solution and cost 50% less than Sola and 20% less than earlier DLM downlights. A better value product with the latest technological features, you can't really go wrong with this product and with over 300 positive reviews, you can understand why other customers rate them so highly.

Although they are IP65 rated, the finish would deteriorate in the harsh outdoor environment.
We have these dedicated outdoor downlights that are far better for soffits:

They have a special Dupont paint and come with a 20 year guarantee.
Or we have an integrated LED version:

15 years ago I was told I had to install a 12 volt M16 halogen bulb in a splash proof mount which has now failed and needs to be replaced. If so, I'll change all my bathroom lights to this model.
My cut out is 75mm.
With thanks,
AJ BrasierQuestion by: Alan Brasier on 7 Jun 2022, 11:02Technically zone 1 is 2.25 metres, so your installation would be classed as zone. If it was zone 1, the IP65 version is suitable for bathroom zone 1 applications. The IP65 and GU10 lamp combination is a popular for installing over showers.
If you want to be totally safe, you may want to consider an integrated LED downlight that's SELV (Safety Extra Low Voltage), just to be sure. Here's some options for the 61-75mm hole size range:
