DMX LED Drivers for RGB and RGBW LED Strip

DMX is a popular choice for colour changing lighting, allowing you to select colours, adjust brightness and create effects using a compatible controller. Although widely associated with theatres and entertainment venues, it is also useful for feature lighting in homes, bars, restaurants and retail displays.

A constant voltage DMX driver receives commands from your DMX controller and adjusts the connected LED strip. For RGBW LED strip, four output channels allow separate control of the red, green, blue and white LEDs. This gives you coloured lighting alongside a dedicated white light output.

DMX can also control single colour lighting, making it an option when you want white LED strip to work as part of a wider DMX installation.

DALI Dimmable LED Drivers for Rooms, Zones and Scenes

DALI allows compatible lights to be controlled individually or arranged into groups. You can dim different areas separately and recall saved lighting scenes, such as brighter working light or a softer evening setting.

This flexibility makes DALI useful for offices, hotels, restaurants and homes with several lighting zones. It can also work with suitable sensors and control equipment to adjust lighting when spaces are occupied or daylight levels change.

Our DALI constant voltage LED strip driver provides an option for bringing compatible LED tape into a DALI system. DALI also supports colour changing and tunable white lighting when used with drivers and controls designed for those functions.

Constant Voltage or Constant Current?

The right output type depends on the lighting you are connecting:

• Constant voltage: Typically used with LED strip. Match the driver output to the strip voltage, such as a 24V driver for 24V LED tape.
• Constant current: Used with compatible LED fittings that specify a current, such as 350mA or 700mA. Our constant current DMX drivers provide options for this type of lighting.

For a replacement driver in an existing fitting, match the original specification or choose the manufacturer's recommended replacement.

Do I Need a Separate LED Power Supply?

Some products combine the power supply and lighting control functions in one unit. For example, our Collingwood constant voltage DALI drivers accept a mains supply and provide power and control for compatible RGB or RGBW lighting.

Other products, including the SR-2102B DMX and SR-2303B DALI decoders, take a low-voltage DC input and need a separate LED power supply. The decoder controls the light output, while the power supply provides the electrical power. Both arrangements also need suitable DMX or DALI control equipment.

Choosing the Right Driver for Your Project

Start with the control system you want to use, then match the driver to your lighting's voltage or current, colour channels and power requirements. For LED strip, the length and watts per metre help determine the load. With multi-channel products, consider both the total capacity and the limit for each channel.
