Illuminating A Front Porch Outside

The area of my front garden near the front door has always been very dark spot  in the evenings. Not only did I want to have lighting to make it easier when looking for door keys, I also wanted to add more lighting to add a little more in the way of security as advised by many authorities including our local Police force.

Since the lights were to be on for the entire evening, they had to be LED to keep the electricity cost down and for maximum bulb life. After seeing what a nice lighting effect some downlights gave on a neighbours garage (installed in soffit), I decided to install some downlights in my Porch soffit.

Adjustable Downlights

Wanting the downlights to be adjustable so I could angle them correctly, the EcoLED ZEP1E Downlights fitted the bill perfectly! After a few emails to Downlight Direct regarding finish choice, I ordered them and they were delivered promptly.

After installing the required wiring (including cutting an access panel in the side of the Porch!) I cut out the 2 required holes for the 2 Downlights. Wiring up the drivers (included with the downlights!) was easy, and I had the lights working in no time. Screwing back the soffit and angling the downlights correctly was the last job, and now I have very nice and bright (but not too over the top) Porch lights, giving the ambient effect and added security that I was wanting.

Very pleased with the product and with the service from DownlightsDirect.co.uk, would use again and would definitely recommend to family/friends!
